Particular

“Specific”

Modern man or woman expects certain particular things to happen in their daily lives. The expectation of particular things to happen could be for the present moment, meaning immediately, or in the future. This expectation is not only considered logical but also normal.

When particular things do happen, man or woman is happy and the expectation for particular things becomes more conditioned than it already was.  When particular things do not happen, man or woman is usually depressed and hopes that particular things will happen in the future.

But, even in the future, particular things would only happen in the moment in the future. This indicates that the present moment is actually the future that was hoped for in the previous moment.

Also, in any moment of life, only particular things happen that a man or a woman is able to recognise as thoughts in the mind due to their memory. This implies that, if particular things are not recognised by a man or a woman, he or she would not know whether any particular thing, meaning a specific thing, has happened or not.

But a man or a woman does recognise the things that happen in the moment, because he or she is able to live daily life. This implies that in any moment of life particular things, meaning specific things, always do happen.

A man’s and woman’s expectation of particular things to happen in the moment would be a certainty if they were able to make the moment in life or in the mind. This is because particular things are always present in any moment of life, which is reported by the mind.

It is, however, impossible for a man or a woman to make a moment in life or in the mind, because to be able to make a moment in life or in the mind a moment would be required.

Therefore, it is impossible for the mind to make particular, specific things in any moment in life, because a particular thing is already present in the moment in life.

The wisdom expressed by the enlightened that it is wise to accept what happens in every moment of life reflects the understanding that a moment has within it the particular things which it is meant to have. The moment includes the particular doer, doing and the done, albeit illusory, and the mind cannot make the particular doer, the doing or the done.

Editor’s Note:
Every human being becomes reliant in his life on his own resourcefulness, albeit illusory, to ensure his desired outcomes, or so he has been encouraged to believe. Dr Shankar reveals, however, in this detailed article how life provides in every moment exactly what is meant to be. Understanding this is life’s gift.

German Translator’s Note:
The mind has so many conditions about how life should flow. Something should happen in particular. Not just something but a particular thing. And it should happen in the way it pleases the ego. This is the common belief. Dr. Shankar’s wise article “Particular“ helps humanity to accept everything that happens as the particular thing which is meant to happen. Only this understanding makes man flow with life as it is. Thank you!
