What does a moment mean?

Man believes, and is convinced as well, that the mind is required to do anything, such as to: speak, think, see, hear, act, smell and taste. In simple terms, it means the mind is required for man to experience. Man is convinced that anything can happen in a moment, for he says: it happened in a moment; wait a moment; you have a moment to think, it was seen for a moment; it was heard just for a moment; you have a moment to smell and taste. This means man can experience in a moment.

But what does a moment mean? Could a moment in the mind be the same as a moment in life? Man understands that a moment in the mind means a brief period. He also understands that, that period implies duration, and the duration of a moment in the mind will be a variable and not a constant, as every man experiences either at a slow or a fast pace. But what is the duration within a moment in life?

The duration within a moment in life cannot be known by the mind, as life happens much faster than the mind. The fact that the mind knows what has happened in life only after it has happened proves that life is always ahead of the mind. For example, the mind can never determine the moment in life when: a seed breaks open in the soil; a flower blossoms; a fruit ripens; the water flows; the wind blows, the fire rages, the earth quakes, the sun rises or the moon sets. Also, the moment the body begins to move in life can never be known by the mind, as the mind knows that the body has moved only after it has moved in life.

Therefore, a moment in the mind is a brief period, whose duration can be known by the mind, whereas a moment in life cannot be known by the mind. As a metaphor, that moment in life can never be known when: a sound happens as a seed breaks in soil, and evolves as a flower or a fruit to radiate fragrance or give taste. A moment in the mind, therefore, is not the same as a moment in life.

In simple terms, the moment when life begins or moves every day can never be known. Man is informed by knowledge that a moment in the mind is brief, whereas an evolved man understands that a moment in life is timeless. Through logic man understands that a moment in the mind is separate from the next, which forms the concept of time; whereas an evolved man realizes that a moment in life is not separate from the next and is, therefore, timeless. A moment and the experiences of man can be known by the mind as a concept. Life cannot be known by the mind as a concept; it is an aliveness that is lived mysteriously. Life, therefore, is not the same as the mind.

So what is a moment? A moment in the mind is a brief period of time, while a moment in life is timeless and, therefore, eternal.
